Nova Plus Beeping constant beep remedy

Nova Plus Beeping constant beep remedy

Preface: This article covers the steps to remedy the constant beeping on your Nova Plus machine

Info
No matter which method you choose, you must allow the RF laser tube time to initialize. After turning on the laser switch, please allow for 60 seconds. If you start a job prior to the initialization being complete, you can get incomplete firing of the tube.

To stop the Beeping:

Turn on the Laser Power Switch to supply 48v to the laser tube and fan board. The fan board is what is beeping. By providing the 48v, the fan board will stop beeping.

Wiring Change for Alternate Method to stop the beeping:

Warning
Power off, unplug and lock out per your company guidelines to create a safe working condition. This modification involves electrical risks and you do so at your own risk.

Tools and Supplies needed:

Phillips head screw driver
Flat head screw driver
Red wire, 18awg about 2ft

This wiring change will move the 24V power for the Fan board to the main contactor. The main contactor is then energized with laser power switch. So the fan board will not turn on until the laser switch is turned on which also provides 48v to the Laser Tube. Be sure to allow adequate time for the tube to initialize before starting a job and also adequate time after the job is complete to allow the tube to cool down. By doing this modification, you accept the responsibility of giving the tube time to cool and time to initialize.

The fan board is powered by 24v, the wires will be located on the right side of the machine in the control panel on the power distribution terminal blocks. The wire we will want to move is 24V16. You will need to remove the grey wire duct covers as well. Use the open port on the main contactor as show with the arrows. Install 24V16 onto the contactor and then a jumper wire on the other side of the contactor that then goes back to the red terminal block where you removed the 24V16 wire from.

Basic Steps:

0. Power off, unplug and lock out the machine to make it safe per your requirements
1. Remove grey wire duct covers from above and below wire terminal blocks
2. Locate 24V16 on the red terminal blocks. Use the small flathead to press the orange square on the terminal block to release the wire and pull the wire out.
3. Route 24V16 to the contactor. Install on contactor and use phillips head screw driver to tighten. Tug check the wire to make sure it is seated and clamped
4. Strip wire ends of jumper wire and install on corresponding terminal on the other side of the contactor. Tighten the clamp, tug check
5. Install the other end of the jumper to the red terminal block that you removed 24V16 from. Press the orange square to disengage the spring clamp, insert the wire and release the square. Tug the wire
6. Tuck wires in and reinstall the grey wire duct covers
7. Power up and test
