Titan - How to use the Passthrough for Longer Materials

Preface: This article covers how to use the TITAN machine's pass through function.

Warning
When operating the machine with the passthrough in use, doors and covers removed, it will operate as a Class IV machine. Safety precautions need to be taken. SAFETY INFO: Class 4 C02 Laser Radiation, PPE, & Fire Suppression

Complete Guide

The pass through allows for longer objects to fit in the machine. Your Thunder TITAN has a front removable door and a rear removable slot. You will need enough room in front and back of the machine to use the passthrough as well as exhaust duct length to move the machine away from a wall. Be sure to lower the feet of the machine for the most stability if you have to move the machine away from the wall.

Info
The pass through will allow the material to hang outside the machine. Be sure to not run into the protruding material, especially while it is being processed.

Tools needed:

2.5mm allen wrench (For rear passthrough panel removal)

Prepare the machine for Passthrough

  1. Identify and Remove the Pass Through Panels
If you are using the passthough for the engraving and cutting, you will need to remove the panels, set the proper Honeycomb position and Focus the laser head.

  2. Front:
Locate the Front Pass through on your machine.

  3. Front Panel Removal:
Push outward with your hand to open the Front Pass through.

    Rear Panel:
    Info
If you do not need the material to pass through the rear passthrough panel, you can leave the panel installed.
Remove the screws Holding the rear pass through with a 2.5mm Allen wrench. Remove and store.

2. Honeycomb table position:
For thin materials, place them flat on the honeycomb table and secure them with magnets/fixed tools.

For longer or thicker materials, place them flat on the honeycomb table as well, and use stands for support if necessary.

Safety and Exhaust Considerations

During machine operation with panels removed, the door interlock may need to be temporarily bypassed, which can expose users to hazardous laser radiation.
Exercise extreme caution and ensure appropriate protective measures are in place.

Bypassing the safety doors:

Warning
Note: This procedure is performed at the user’s own risk. The manufacturer assumes no liability for any damage, injury, or loss resulting from improper operation or failure to follow safety guidelines.

The exhaust may react a little differently and there will be more openings for residual smoke and smells to escape into the room. It is advised to only run with the pass-through panels removed when it is necessary.

Using pass through for material processing

The pass-through door height is 70 mm. It supports materials with a maximum thickness of 65 mm (2.5").

This design greatly improves flexibility for handling oversized or extra-long workpieces, especially useful in signage, packaging, and panel processing applications.

  1. Place the material flat on the honeycomb table and secure it. If needed, use some tools like shelves in front and back of the machine to hold the long material sheet and make it flat.
  2. Download the designed processing file to the machine. Move the laser head above the material to set the "Origin". And then press "AF" on the touch panel to focus on the material, select "Frame".

    Info
Note: If you need to process thicker materials using the pass-through door, you can remove the silicone rings and push the lens tube to the highest position.
This allows proper focusing during thick material processing.

  3. Press "Start" to begin the job.

When done, return the machine back to the original state.
