The Lightburn License - Everything you need to know about it
Note that there are changes coming to the Lightburn License Structure that will go into effect Oct 1, 2024 which will make some of the information in this article moot. Please read about it
here.
Lightburn License Overview:
- New Thunder Laser NOVA and ODIN series purchases come with a Lightburn License
- License is good forever, but only includes 1 year of software updates
- License allows for 3 seats\installs
- User must manage the License through the Lightburn Software Portal
More about the Lightburn License can be found here.
Where do you Get Your License:
If you purchased a Thunder Nova or Odin series machine, the License will be EMAILED to you prior to delivery of your machine. Be sure to save the email for future use. You will be required to enter and manage the License. If you are unable to locate the License Email, please check with your sales representative or email support@thunderlaserusa.com.
Which Lightburn License do you need:
If you are an existing user, you may be able to use your current license if it has the correct types of controllers unlocked. G-Code License users can update to a DSP license which include the G-Code controllers.

here. For additional information about managing your license, see
here.
Updates Renewal:
The renewal link is here. You will need your license key that you are using in order to enter into the website.
Status Check:
From within Lightburn, go to Help>License Management
1. Number of days that Updates are available. License will still work afterwards
2. Use this to de-activate the License on the current computer to free up a seat
3. Device Types that the License is valid for. DSP and Galvo will be the two types for Thunder Lasers
