How to replace the Z-axis lead screw on the Thunder Bolt

How to replace the Z-axis lead screw on the Thunder Bolt

Tools needed:

1. Allen wrench set × 1 set

2. Steel ruler × 1 pcs

3. Lead screw × 1 pcs

4. Open-end wrench M5 * M8 × 1 pcs

5. Marker × 1 pcs

6. Positioning fixture × 1 pcs

Note: A three-dimensional triangular wooden block is used to secure the lead screw and prevent it from rotating when passing through the belt.

Step 1. Disassemble the lead screw

Note: Before removing the honeycomb table, you can lower the table to be able to pull the crumb drawer out easier.

1.Remove the honeycomb and the crumb drawer

2.Remove the honeycomb holder

3.Loosen the screws and remove Z belt cover

4.Remove this panel

5.Loosen the screws a little

6. Loosen the Z axis belt

7. Mark the position of the lead screw using a marker

8. Loose the 4 screws of the lead screw

9.Use both hands to pull the lead screw out horizontally

Step 2. Assemble the lifting connection block onto the new lead screw.

1). Remove the Black Top on the old lead screw

Take it down carefully without damaging any surrounding components, be careful not to lose the washer on it.

2). Use an Allen wrench to remove the screws and take off the connection block.

3). Assemble the new lead screw. ——Video link

Step 3. Install the lead screw onto the machine.

Note: Before installation, be sure to confirm that the installation direction of the lead screw is correct. Also, check if the washers at the top are not missing.

1. Align the base of the lead screw with the black line you marked, and tighten the bottom screws

2. Tighten the two screws on the top

After completing the above step, the lead screw installation is finished. The next step is that the belt and platform need to be reinstalled and adjusted appropriately.

3. Use a steel ruler to position the height of the four connection blocks.

Note: You can adjust the height of each connection block individually by turning the lead screw. The reference standard is that the distance between the four connection blocks and the laser head must be the same, as shown in the image.

4. Open the left door and make sure the belt has passed the Z-axis motor.

5. Pass the belt through the first gear and place a triangular wooden block under the gear to secure the first lead screw.

5. Pass the belt through the first gear and place a triangular wooden block under the gear to secure the first lead screw.

6. Tighten the Z axis belt and fix the base.

When we pass the belt through the motor and the four gears, we need to secure the lead screw with an object (such as a triangular wooden block) after placing the belt on the first gear.

Then, thread the belt through the other three gears in sequence and finally place it on the center white rubber wheel.

7. Reinstall the drawer panel

8. Turn the lifting connection block to the left (right) direction

7. Install the panel holder back

8. Install the honeycomb table

Inspection items after installation

After completing the installation of the honeycomb panel, please check the following two points again:

  1. When the laser head moves to the four corners and the center of the platform, the distance of them should be the same.

  1. Is the distance from the honeycomb panel to the machine housing the same?
