CW-5xxx Series Chiller Alarm Connections
Using The Chiller Alarm Output
Most laser power supplies have a connection for a waterflow sensor that will not allow the laser to fire if there is no water flow. Many lasers come with a waterflow sensor already installed but some do not. If you have a CW-5xxx series Water Chiller it has a built in flow alarm that can be connected to the machine and prevent the laser from firing if there is a cooling system fault. If you want to utilize this alarm output you will need to connect it to the laser. You can use the connection on the laser power supply or, if your controller or DSP has the capability, you can connect it to the controller. It may also be possible, if you already have a waterflow sensor installed going to the power supply, to add the chiller alarm output to the controller as a redundant safety.
