CW-5000 Series v1 and v2 Chiller Differences

CW-5000 Series v1 and v2 Chiller Differences

There are some differences between the v1 and v2 CW-5000 series Teyu (S&A) chillers. This article will explain those differences

Determining The Chiller Version

You can tell the v1 from the v2 by seeing if the front panel has a red and green light (v1) or not (v2):

Waterflow Sensor

The v1 waterflow sensor has 4 wires and basically tells the chiller if there is flow, or not, but doesnt provide real-time flow rate feedback to the controller.

The v2 waterflow sensor has 3 wires and tells the chiller if there is flow, or not, by providing real-time flow rate feedback to the controller. The v2 sensor connector and wiring are different than the v1, similar to the example image below:

The the documented test for v1 sensors where you 'hotwire it' to see if the alarm silences does not apply to the v2 sensor.

24v Power Connectors

All 24v DC power connectors in the v1 are Molex Minifit Jr connectors:

All 24v DC power connectors in the v2 are these:

This means that parts utilizing the 24v power rail in the  v1 chiller are different than the parts utilizing the 24v power rail in the  v1  chiller and are not interchangeable.

24v Power Supply

The v1 and v2 power supplies use the 24v power connector conventions above, but on the v2 24v power supply, both connectors are identical and the power supply could be installed 'backwards' and damage the power supply and/or chiller. Always verify the connections using wire colors and wire tags.
