Air Solenoid Differences

Air Solenoid Differences

Preface: This article covers the different models of air solenoids used on Thunder lasers.

Thunder Laser has used the three different types of solenoids as shown below. All 3 are still the same hose input sizing and 24V solenoids. You should be able to replace each pack of solenoids with another pack, just replace them both at the same time, they are sold in pairs through the Thunder Laser USA website with their mounting baseplates.

Version 1 WFS-E-P039-N2
Version 2 SMC  VQ21A1-5G-C6
Version 3 AIRTAC 2P025-06BIG

Version 1 can be purchased here.

When swapping the solenoids out, pay attention to which pair of hoses and electrical connectors goes to which solenoid.  In general, the inboard solenoid is the Low air and the Outboard solenoid is the high air. The Air inlet hoses are not critical since they are just split off from the same hose upstream to the pump\external air connection.
